Planting is, of course, a vital element to any garden, from pots on a patio to large herbaceous borders. We have pulled together a collection of pictures showing the plants used in our designs. If a particular plant that you love is not shown please do not worry, as we can incorporate it into most designs. Our planting plans are done in layers so that you can visualize each border throughout the year. The layers normally consist of (a) bulbs, corms and rhizomes; (b) herbaceous perennials and ornamental grasses; (c) shrubs and climbers; and (d) ornamental/fruiting trees. Most of our planting designs follow naturalistic schemes based on the local flora so that the garden site within the environment and doesn’t look out of place. Of course, if you wish to have a tropical garden in the middle of a city then we can help you to create that.
Planting is all about form, shape, texture, colour, scent and shadow. The positioning of plants and their relationship to each other are essential for a cohesive planting plan. Colours can either complement each other or contrast for dramatic displays. In some instances, shades of green are used to unite areas of the garden, with ornamental grasses forming the ‘glue’ between each plant creating uniform and spectacular borders.
We hope you enjoy looking at this planting gallery and plant combinations.
