Modern outdoor space for Adidas Headquarters, Stockport, Cheshire, UK
A modern outdoor space that is unique, exciting and a relaxing outdoor space for the health and well-being of staff and visitors at the Adidas headquarters in the UK, where an existing car park is situated. An outdoor working room sets off one end of the design, while organic shapes create meandering pathways and abundant naturalistic planting. Seating is dotted throughout the design with floating benches and stand-alone stools, with water used as a central feature, which helps lower the temperature on very hot days. Seats are in the form of benches, stools and bean bags. The planting continues into the outside office space creating an inside-outside feel. Trees add height and shade. Power supplies and charging stations are put in at every seating position so that individuals can go outside and still work or rest. The planting has many textures, and some areas are uplifting while others are calming and relaxing. Movement is created with the overall Concept but also through the use of planting, in particular ornamental grasses. This is a space to be used and enjoyed for 12 months of the year so planting is an essential element. The brief also requests large open spaces for events, so this Concept is designed with that in mind. It allows 100-150 people to use the outdoor space at any one time. This is an exciting project that benefits staff and visitors and improves their well-being, health and happiness in the working environment.
