Modern Garden Design for Whitstable, Kent, UK
A modern garden design, for a Victorian house, accessed from the basement kitchen / family room
A modern garden design for a busy family. The lower composite-decked patio leads up to a flat composite-decked garden, by wide granite steps, which is broken up by multi-stemmed trees and naturalistic planting set in gravel. The clients love straight lines, triangles and rendered walls, so 2 large triangular shaped beds lead the clients up and around the garden, with a low rendered wall-seat angled to view a contemporary piece of sculpture. As you pass the seat a hidden seating area comes into view and chairs, a fire pit and contemporary wall artwork are revealed. The large expanse of rendered wall is broken up with clipped hedging, which is continued above the furthest wall, wrapping around the seating area where it drops to a low clipped hedge to reveal the views. This garden is about space, artwork, angles and an outdoor area for the family to enjoy. The garden is modern, yet formal. Modern, yet naturalistic.
