Large Formal Modern Garden for a Busy Family

A formal modern garden designed and built with extensive stone paving. Water rills break up a section of the paving. Stunning stone feature walls lead from the main entrance to the new formal modern patio.

The space is defined as separate zones. Sculpture and hand-crafted benches sit among the flowering borders. Straight lines and repetition add to the formality of this space.

An extensive wrap-around pergola adds height to this area. A formal lawn break up the paving. Sweeping colour blocks of herbaceous perennials make the garden feel modern.

A large formal rattan table and chairs leads off from the new extension. A corner rattan sofa looks across the formal patio, lawn and borders to the garden beyond.

Pleached trees, topiarized mounds of Ilex crenata add to the formal modern garden feel.

Passing under the pergola and hornbeam hedges used as dividers, the rest of the space is revealed. Leaving this space, a large expanse of lawn, dotted with specimen trees leads to a summerhouse. A new patio in the same stone wraps around the summerhouse.
