Courtyard garden with a woodland inspiration
Courtyard garden needed a revamp. The existing courtyard garden includeed 10 large pieces of sculpture, a fire-pit area, a BBQ, table and chairs and woodland planting. Very large round Buxus balls stand either side of the main entrance to the garden, and an impressive pine tree towers above. A newly created BBQ and meat-smoking area is built in a brick to match the existing colours and bricks of the house and courtyard. A new path winds its way around the back of the border, and the opened up area around the artillery has become the perfect spot for a couple of chairs. The roots from the pine tree did cause a few problems, but by choosing the right plants to suit, the planting is loose, natural, verdant with pockets of colour. The old slabs were cleaned and an additional step added. Attracting wildlife is important to the Client, so plants that are good for pollinators are introduced, as well as bird stations and a small water feature. Now with the old planting removed from the back wall, the courtyard garden looks twice the size and deeper. More light now gets into the courtyard garden, meaning that entertaining friends and family is a joy.
